The Italian Ministry of Health is the competent Authority for the recognition of health services provided abroad only for EU citizens residing:

• in Italian Regions under a special statute (with the exception of the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley and Friuli Venezia Giulia)
• in the autonomous Province of Trento
• abroad (enrolled in the Registry of Italians Resident Abroad - A.I.R.E.)

Citizens residing in Italian Regions under ordinary statute must address to the Region of residence (Legislative Decree no.112/1998).

Citizens residing in the Aosta Valley, in Friuli Venezia Giulia and in the autonomous Province of Bolzano must address to the Region or autonomous Province of residence.
